The hearing on the proposed HR 707, which is the bill you’ve heard referred to as RAWA (Restoration of America’s Wire Act), will have a hearing on Capitol Hill on Mar. 26, according to the Poker Players Alliance, a pro-poker lobbying group in Washington, D.C.

The hearing was supposed to be held earlier this month, but it was postponed due to winter weather. Unfortunately, it looks like another winter weather blast won’t be able to delay the hearing this time around. Spring isn’t online poker’s friend right now.

The Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations will be discussing Rep. Jason Chaffetz’s bill. The witnesses at the hearing are expected to primarily be online poker opponents. Previous online gaming hearings on Capitol Hill have been largely neutral, but this one looks like it will be very biased and undemocratic.

An official witness list for the hearing hasn’t yet been announced.

The last online gaming hearing on Capitol Hill was in late 2013

The bill is the one backed by billionaire Republican donor Sheldon Adelson, who also is a casino boss. He is anti-online gaming because he thinks it will hurt brick-and-mortars.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (Republican-South Carolina) could also introduce an anti-online poker bill later this year. He recently made headlines for admitting he has never used email.
