With California out of the equation in 2015, the state of Pennsylvania is the best hope for another state jumping on board with regulated online poker this year.

On Thursday, lawmakers in Harrisburg will discuss an online poker proposal. The hearing will be on H.B. 649, which is a proposal from Rep. John Payne.

It’s one of three separate online poker bills currently on the table.

“With three states already successfully regulating Internet poker, Pennsylvania lawmakers are recognizing the societal and economic benefits of regulation over prohibition,” the Poker Players Alliance’s John Pappas said in a statement this week. “By passing, H.B. 649, lawmakers can provide Pennsylvania players with what they deserve—access to an established online gaming marketplace with clear and strong state laws and enforcements.”

This week, the Pennsylvania House Gaming Oversight Committee passed H.R. 140, a resolution urging Congress to defeat the federal proposal RAWA, which would prohibit states from legalizing and regulating online gambling. The resolution also calls on the Pennsylvania congressional delegation to oppose the Sheldon Adelson-backed bill.
