In anticipation of next year’s legislative session in Wyoming, lawmakers in the state are going to be studying a number of their gaming options. Wyoming is weighing whether to establish a gaming commission, which could oversee gaming expansion, according to a report from the Casper Star Tribune.

Late last year, Wyoming kicked off its lottery, but some want more regulation, especially as the lottery is expanding into other types of games.

Interestingly, current state law says that poker has to be a game between people who know each other, which obviously can be interpreted broadly, according to the Star Tribune. Wyoming has three tribal casinos. There are two poker rooms in the state, which have a combined four tables, according to PokerAtlas.

Betting on horse races also happens in Wyoming.

The state’s limited gambling might not feel so limited anymore for lawmakers, and thus they are analyzing existing betting in order to determine how to proceed.

If lawmakers do decide on a gaming commission, it’s likely two years away, the report added.
