Money Bubble Looms at 2015 World Series of Poker Main EventOnly 1,796 Players Still In The Hunt For Main Event Title |
|
After five days of action in the 2015 World Series of Poker main event, the remaining players in the field are finally ready to begin playing simultaneously as one group starting Friday.
Of the 6,420 players who began the tournament, just 1,796 are still around. The top 1,000 players will cash, earning at least $15,000, so everyone’s initial focus will be to survive the looming money bubble. That bubble will come up sooner rather than later, with the bottom 200 players in the tournament all sporting stacks of 20 big blinds or less.
One player who will have a much easier time navigating the bubble is David Jackson, from Jacksonville, Florida. Jackson managed to work his way to a chip count of 408,800, the largest of day 2C. He’ll enter Friday with the fifth biggest stack in the building.
Other notables who had good days on Thursday’s day 2C included Matt Glantz (304,400), Bradley Berman (303,700), former WSOP main event champion Ryan Riess (291,700), Kane Kalas (261,900), Marco Johnson (236,500) and Max Steinberg (232,700). Riess wasn’t the only former winner to make it through. He’ll be joined by Scotty Nguyen (181,200), Joe Hachem (148,500) and Phil Hellmuth (88,800).
Among those who failed to survive the day were Phil Ivey, Bertrand Grospellier, Jamie Gold, Huck Seed, Peter Eastgate, Anthony Zinno, Michael Mizrachi, Maria Ho, Olivier Busquet, Mike Leah, Ray Romano and Ronnie Bardah, who was attempting to break his own record of five straight WSOP main event cashes.
The action resumes Friday at noon with day 3. Here is a look at the top 10 stacks entering day 3.
