Poker pro Daniel Negreanu, who just recently finished 11th in the 2015 World Series of Poker main event, is apparently using thoughts of hockey to take his mind away from such a close call to reaching the November Nine.

Negreanu told the Toronto Sun that Las Vegas is 99.9-percent certain to get a professional hockey team and that he would own a piece of it. The team could be awarded in 2017.

The Canadian-born poker pro has more than $30 million in lifetime tournament earnings.

“I just don’t see it not happening," Negreanu said. "We have a solid owner, an arena and we sold 13,000 season tickets. Vegas has 2.2 million people. It’s a sports town. We’ve been starving for a professional franchise of any kind for many years.”

Billionaire Bill Foley is the main driving force behind the push for a Las Vegas NHL team. There is still a decision to be made about the name of the team.
