Las Vegas mogul Steve Wynn’s $1.7 billion casino planned for the town of Everett, which sits just outside Boston, is on hold after Boston filed a lawsuit involving it. The mayor, Martin Walsh, doesn’t want Wynn to build a casino there.

According to The Boston Globe, Wynn has been getting frustrated with the situation. “I can’t negotiate with [Mayor Walsh],” Wynn said by phone. “The man is obviously irresponsible.”

Walsh alleged that Wynn offered up “a nine-figure sum” to settle the matter, which Wynn denies. Wynn reportedly is threatening to sue over Walsh’s comments. Not long ago, Wynn won a huge settlement in a defamation suit against Girls Gone Wilder founder Joe Francis.

Boston is seeking to get Wynn’s license invalidated because it claims the state played favorites in picking Wynn’s proposal. The city’s lawsuit is pending as a judge decides whether it’s bogus or should have some legs. According to the report, a judge did indicate that the city’s litigation might be a PR tactic. The city also claims Wynn’s casino would cause traffic jams.

Regardless, Wynn isn’t abandoning the project.

“The chances of us leaving are zero,” he said.

Wynn’s delay, alone with a delay experienced by MGM Resorts, which is working on a casino in Springfield, have caused some to become skeptical that the Bay State will have a Las Vegas-style casino industry anytime soon. One expert predicted it could take a decade.
