The 2015 PokerStars APPT Manila wrapped up this week, and the tournament stop reportedly had some high-stakes cash game action as well, featuring some of poker’s heaviest hitters.

One of them was Dan “jungleman” Cates, who took to Twitter on Thursday to say that his trip to Manila was terrible. Cates said that he lost about $5 million in the game. It’s unclear if that was in one or multiple sessions.

“Sooo Manila didn’t go well, only lost about 38m hkd(5m usd),” he said on Twitter. He added that he might be dropping down in stakes as a result: “Gonna play some 5/10 online and take another shot.”

According to reports, the no-limit hold’em game had stakes that were the equivalent of $2,500-$5,000-$10,000. There were three blinds or a mandatory straddle.

It’s not hard to imagine losing $5 million when that amount is only 500 times the straddle.

Card Player was unsuccessful Friday in contacting Cates to ask for more info about his losses.

Cates is an $11 million winner lifetime online, according to tracking from HighstakesDB. He has also cashed for $3.1 million lifetime in tournaments.
