Online Poker: Jason Mercier Drops $200,000Viktor Blom Sees Bluff Fail In Week's Biggest Pot |
|
Poker pro Jason Mercier is having one of his best years on the tournament circuit, but his online cash game results haven’t been stellar in 2015. According to HighstakesDB, Mercier lost $200,000 in the ring games on PokerStars over the past seven days.
Fortunately, he has won $1,896,195 in tournaments in 2015 and currently sits in third place in Card Player’s Player of the Year race.
Mercier is a $380,000 loser lifetime on PokerStars under his JasonMercier screen name, which first became active in 2010. He is sponsored by the poker site.
On the flip side, unknown PokerStars account “JayP-AA” was the week’s biggest winner with $1,292,749 in profits. The largest hand of the week was a $346,422 pot at $200-$400 PLO between Viktor “Isildur1” Blom and JayP-AA. The hand, which took place on Sunday, featured a bluff gone wrong on the river for Blom. Before we get to the action, here were their cards:
JayP-AA: A A Q 9
Blom: K J 7 6
In a three-handed game with Isaac Haxton also sitting, Blom made it $1,600 on the button, and JayP-AA three-bet to $5,300. Blom called, and the flop fell J 10 6. JayP-AA bet $7,300. Blom called. The turn was the 5, and JayP-AA bet $18,400. Blom called again.
The river brought the 5, and JayP-AA bet $26,300 into a pot of roughly $63,000. Blom decided to raise to $142,000. JayP-AA didn’t have much more than Blom’s bet. He eventually called with aces up and took the massive pot. Blom’s attempt at turning his two pair into a bluff had failed.
Despite the hand, Blom did end the week with a profit. Here’s a look at the leader board from the past seven days, according to the HighstakesDB tracking.
