|
The Big Poker Oktober main event at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles was the most recent stage for the Card Player Poker Tour and attracted a big field of 521 players, creating a total prize pool of $586,850.
After five days of action, it was L.A. poker pro Osmin “Oddie” Dardon who came out on top, pocketing $155,535 for defeating a final table that included the likes of Lily Kiletto (second place), Duey Duong (third place) and Xuan Nguyen (seventh place).
This was Dardon’s second win of the year after winning a preliminary event at the Larry Flynt Grand Slam of Poker in July for $100,000. He now has more than $1.7 million in career tournament earnings.
Here’s a look at some of the biggest hands that propelled Dardon to victory.
Hand No. 1 – Dardon Takes Out Hart In Fifth Place
Player | Hand | Chip Count |
Osmin Dardon | 10 8 | 4,900,000 |
Brent Hart | K 8 | 2,690,000 |
The Action
Brent Hart raised to 180,000 from the button and got a defend from Osmin Dardon in the big blind. The flop came down 9 6 5 and both players checked. The turn was the 7, however, providing the necessary action card for some big betting. Dardon bet 200,000 and Hart raised to 500,000. Dardon reraised to 1,000,000 and Hart shoved for about 2,500,000. Dardon instantly called with 10 8 for the nut straight and Hart could only hope for a chop with his K 8. The river was the K and Hart was eliminated in fifth place, earning $28,990. The pot was enough to give Dardon the chip lead.
Hand No. 2 – Dardon Gets Lucky To Double Up
Player | Hand | Chip Count |
Osmin Dardon | 10 10 | 4,925,000 |
Lily Kiletto | K K | 9,825,000 |
The Action
With Duey Duong short stacked three-handed, he folded the button and Lily Kiletto raised to 1,000,000 in the small blind. Osmin Dardon then three-bet all in for 4,900,000 from the big blind and Kiletto instantly called with pocket kings. Dardon could only show down pocket tens, but he was able to overcome his 80-20 disadvantage by spiking the Q 10 2 flop. The turn and river fell 4 2 and Dardon doubled into the chip lead, much to the dismay of Kiletto.
Hand No. 3 – Kiletto Gets Coolered and Crippled Heads Up
Player | Hand | Chip Count |
Osmin Dardon | Q Q | 8,525,000 |
Lily Kiletto | 8 8 | 9,675,000 |
The Action
With Lily Kiletto sporting a thin chip lead heads-up, Osmin Dardon raised to 550,000 from the button and Kiletto responded with a three-bet to 2,000,000. Dardon didn’t wait long before four-betting to 4,000,000 and Kiletto five-bet all in. Dardon called off the rest of his stack with pocket queens and saw he was in great shape against Kiletto’s pocket eights. The board ran out A 10 7 6 K and Dardon doubled up to just over 17 million. Kiletto was left with a little less than five big blinds total. It wasn’t much longer before Dardon had all of the chips on the table.
