Ofer Zvi Stern was the subject of a lot of criticism at the 2015 World Series of Poker main event final table for what some considered to be an excessive amount of tanking, even on seemingly simple preflop decisions.

On day two of the final table, however, Stern was clearly acting much more quickly, and it appears that change in strategy cost him his tournament life.

Stern’s first major stumble came on hand no. 98. It folded around to him in the small blind and he decided to move all in with 10Spade Suit9Spade Suit, putting Josh Beckley to the test. Beckley had woken up with pocket aces, however, and doubled through, putting Stern on the short stack.

It was 23 hands later when Stern raised to 11,500,000, which was most of his stack. Neil Blumenfield then moved all in and Stern called off his last few remaining big blinds with AClub SuitJHeart Suit.

Blumenfield showed a dominating ASpade SuitKClub Suit and the board ran out 7Heart Suit5Spade Suit3Diamond SuitKDiamond SuitQDiamond Suit to send Stern to the rail in fifth place. For his efforts, the 37-year-old Israeli businessman took home $1,911,423.

Card Player TV was there to capture Stern’s post-elimination press conference. Check out the video of that below:
