Online Poker Pro Takes Down Season Eight's Closing Event To Win

The eighth season of the Latin American Poker Tour has come to a close, with the ultimate event being the LAPT Grand Final in São Paulo, Brazil. A total of 426 entries were made in the R$10,000 Brazilian real ($2,572USD) buy-in event.

In the end Yuri Martens emerged victorious, capturing the title and the R$652,509 ($169,652 USD) first place prize after making a deal heads-up with Afonso Henrique.

Martins is a successful online poker pro based in Brazil, with over $5 million in scores on the internet according to Pocket Fives.

With the tour’s eighth season now wrapped the LAPT will take a short break before returning for the first stop of season nine at the 2016 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The LAPT Bahamas $3,000 main event attracted 736 players last year and is sure to be a huge tournament again this year, sporting a $2,200 unlimited re-buy format and running from Jan. 7 – 9.
