The 2015 World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic main event at Bellagio in Las Vegas kicks off today at noon. This event has been one of the tournament circuit’s key events each year, drawing large fields in search of one last shot at a huge payday or more Card Player Player of the Year points as the year’s end fast approaches.

The $10,400 buy-in main event is set to run from Dec. 14 – 19, with players starting with 30,000 in chips and initial blinds of 50 – 100. Each level will last 90 minutes, with a 15 minute break following each level. The schedule calls for each of the first three days to last five levels, with play possibly going longer in the later stages of the event.

Players may register or re-enter in the event until the start of the ninth level, which will fall at approximately 5:15 PM local time on day 2.

2014 Champ Mohsin CharaniaLast year a total of 586 entries were made in this event, building a prize pool in excess of $5.6 million dollars. The turnout was so strong, in fact, that the Bellagio had to shut down cash game tables for a short period of time and take alternates in order to accommodate everyone.

In the end Mohsin Charania emerged victorious, capturing the title and the first-place prize of $1,477,890.
