Over the last two years Mustapha Kanit has become a force to be reckoned with on the live tournament scene. The 25-year-old from Italy made 15 combined final tables in 2014 and 2015, going on to win five titles and finish inside the top 20 in the Card Player Player of the Year race both years. Kanit has continued that impressive form in the new year, with his latest conquest being a title run in the 2016 European Poker Tour Dublin €25,750 no-limit hold’em high roller. He topped a field of 70 entries in the event to win the title and the first-place prize of €501,640 ($562,790 USD).

Kanit was also awarded 588 Player of the Year points after taking down the largest buy-in poker tournament ever held on Irish soil. This was his second final table of the year, having finished fourth in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $100,000 buy-in super high roller in January. As a result of his high roller success he has moved into 35th place in the overall POY standings.

Kanit was not the only player to make moves on the leaderboard as a result of this event. Runner-up finisher Chance Kornuth earned €360,150 ($404,052 USD) for his third final table finish of 2016, all coming in $25,000 buy-in events that took place on three different continents. Kornuth began with a seventh-place showing in the PCA $25,000 buy-in event and then made the trek down under to come out on top in the Aussie Millions $25,000 AUD buy-in high roller, earning $553,392 and 924 points.

With this latest deep run Kornuth has climbed to seventh place in the POY rankings with 1,750 points and $1,150,224 in year-to-date earnings.

Eighth-place finisher Ivan Luca of Argentina earned €65,170 and 98 POY points at his fifth final table of 2016. He has climbed to 15th place in the standings as a result.
