Talking Stick ResortThis August, big poker action returns to the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale for the 12th annual Arizona State Poker Championship. The $1,100 buy-in event kicks off Aug. 12 and runs through Aug. 16, and will feature a prize pool of more than $1 million.

“The Arizona State Poker Championship is a must-see event for poker fans,” said Tom Young, director of poker at Talking Stick Resort. “The multi-day tournament is full of twists and turns and you never know what’s going to happen next. Each year, more than a thousand participants test their luck but only one lucky winner takes home the grand prize.”

The 2015 edition of the tournament drew a field of 1,580 players and was ultimately won by Surprise, Arizona resident Vance Fitzgerald, who took home a Rolex watch and $253,600.

The action starts each day at 9 a.m., with a 10 a.m. start time on the final day of play. Each player starts the tournament with 16,000 in chips, but they may purchase an additional 10,000 in chips for $30.

Registration for the tournament starts June 1 in The ARENA Poker Room. You can find additional details at the Talking Stick Resort website or by calling (480)850-8693.
