Maryland poker rooms raked $2.79 million during the month of August, according to figures released Wednesday by state gaming regulators.

Through the first eight months of the year, the poker rooms raked $23.33 million.

The $2.79 million was less than the $3.13 million raked in August 2015. Through the first eight months of 2015, rake was $24.19 million.

House-banked game revenue was $35.42 million in August, bringing the amount won from those games to $261.7 million through the first two thirds of 2016.

Hollywood Casino Perryville raked $78,400 from poker during August, compared to $2.05 million at Maryland Live! and $660,000 from Horseshoe Casino Baltimore.

Maryland Live! and Horseshoe Baltimore have 52 and 25 poker tables, respectively. Hollywood’s poker room has eight tables.

March’s $3.24 million in rake is the high point of the year so far.

By year’s end, a $1.3 billion casino from MGM Resorts will open at National Harbor, which should grow the state’s poker market, though the casino hasn’t said what its poker room plans are.
