The operators of Connecticut’s two tribal casinos have reopened the application process for a location for the state’s third Las Vegas-style casino, according to a report from Masslive.com.

East Hartford, Hartford and Windsor Locks are currently in the mix for the partnership between Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, but more municipalities could vie for a casino in the coming weeks, the report said. The idea is to have the casino compete with MGM’s upcoming Springfield, Mass. casino. The new deadline for applications is Oct. 15.

The Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes began looking at locations late last year. Assuming it gets the green light, the new casino will not be on tribal land.

MGM Springfield is slated to open in late 2018, and it could cost Connecticut thousands of jobs. The state’s two Indian casinos had revenue decline 6.1 percent in 2013 to $1.7 billion. Gaming revenue was $3.2 billion in 2006.

Mohegan Sun is still working toward opening a $5 billion casino in South Korea in 2020.
