Thanks to landing Kevin Durant this offseason, the Golden State Warriors have done something that hasn’t been accomplished since the Chicago Bulls of the late 1990s.

According to a report from ESPN, the Warriors have opened at around -150, or 2-3, in Las Vegas. The last time a team was the odds-on favorite to win the NBA title before the first game was the 1997-98 Bulls team.

The odds mean that if you bet $150 right now on the Warriors to win, you’d net $100.

That historic Bulls team was around -125 prior to the regular season.

Major Las Vegas bookmakers reportedly can’t recall a time when a professional sports team was -150 or better to win the championship before the start of the season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 12-5 to defend their title, followed by the Spurs at 11-2.

Despite the -150 odds for the Warriors, the sports book at Wynn Las Vegas told ESPN that it took a $28,000 wager on Golden State.

While the NFL said it still opposes legalized sports betting, the NBA is in support of the casino industry’s efforts to have federal law on the activity reformed.
