The Venetian Resort Las VegasThe Venetian® Resort Las Vegas kicked off the 2019 DeepStack Championship Poker Series on May 13. The massive 11-week summer tournament series features 136 tournaments and more than $24 million in guaranteed prize pools. One of the main attractions of the entire series will be the $2 million guaranteed Card Player Poker Tour $5,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event, which runs from July 16-20.

“During our DeepStack Championship Poker Series this summer, we’ll be hosting our fifth Card Player Poker Tour event,” said Tommy LaRosa, tournament director at The Venetian Poker Room. “The $5,000 buy-in CPPT Main Event with a $2 million guaranteed prize pool is a favorite among our players. Providing our players with value and a great tournament experience is key for us.”

Players who enter this prestigious event will start with 25,000 in starting chips, with hour-long levels on day 1 and 75-minute levels from day 2 on. The levels will be shortened to 30 minutes during heads-up play for the title. The event features the big-blind ante format, with initial betting limits of 100-100. There are two starting flights, each beginning at 12:10 p.m. local time on July 16 and 17. Late registration and is allowed through the start of level 13 on day 2.

“As players from all over the world continue to make the trip to Las Vegas every summer to play in some of the biggest tournaments around, we strive to give our players the best playing experience and that encompasses everything from our world-class poker room to the tournament schedule we offer,” LaRosa continued. “The CPPT event is a highlight on our schedule every year and always draws huge fields.”

This event has consistently been the largest tournament of the CPPT season. The four prior champions of this event are all among the top ten on the tour’s all-time earnings list, with the 2016-2018 winners occupying the top three spots.

Allyn Shulman won the first-ever CPPT Venetian main event in 2013, defeating a field of 262 total entries to win $293,966. The tour next returned The Venetian Poker Room in 2016. The tournament once again featured a $5,000 buy-in, but this time around the event also sported a $2,000,000 guarantee. The final turnout of 537 entries saw the prize pool swell to just shy of $2.5 million. In the end the last player standing was Jon Turner, who took home $536,858 as the champion.

The 2017 CCPT Venetian $5,000 main event drew a massive field of 688 total entries, beating the $2,000,000 by over $1.2 million dollars. Spain’s Javier Gomez captured the title and the $561,349 first-place prize.

The most recent CPPT Venetian $5,000 main event champion was none other than three-time World Poker Tour winner and World Series of Poker bracelet holder Anthony Zinno. The 2015 Card Player Player of the Year award winner topped a field of 547 entries to win $466,670.

This summer, make sure to head to The Venetian Poker Room for the 2019 DeepStack Championship Poker Series to take part in all this action-packed series has to offer and see if you can become the fifth champion of the Card Player Poker Tour Venetian main event.
