The 2022 Card Player Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville series kicked off on Oct. 27 with the first of 16 events. The opening $400 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament, which ran over the first weekend of the festival (Oct. 27-30) attracted a huge field of 811 entries to create a prize pool of $263,575. In the week that followed that event, another 536 entries have been made across events 2-7, bringing the total prize money awarded thus far at the festival to more than $382,000. Those numbers should grow dramatically after this upcoming weekend, which features the $1,700 buy-in no-limit hold’em ‘Mystery Bonty’ event running Nov. 3-6. The $3,000 buy-in CPPT bestbet Jacksonville main event is also yet to commence. That marquee tournament, the centerpiece of the series, will run Nov. 11-14. The mystery bounty and the main event, along with the $320 ladies event, will all be be featured on bestbet LIVE, with cards-up coverage of the action.

Event no. 2 was a $360 buy-in no-limit hold’em $100 bounty tournament. A total of 138 entries were made, building a main prize pool of $27,600 by the end of registration. Chongyou Chen came out on top in the end, earning $4,931 after striking a three-way deal to bring the tournament to its conclusion.
This was Chen’s first-ever live tournament title and the largest cash of his career. The St. Augustine, FL resident’s previous top score came when he finished 20th in the 2022 Summer Heater $1,500 buy-in event at this same venue for $4,622.

Next up on the schedule was a $200 buy-in no-limit hold’em event. Thomas Carroll outlasted a field of 98 total entries, earning the trophy and the top prize of $4,393 after defeating Robert Terrel heads-up for the win.
This was Carroll’s first recorded title and the seventh-largest cash on his tournament resume. The Augusta, GA resident now has more than $204,000 in lifetime tournament cashes, with his top score being an 11th-place finish in this year’s World Poker Tour Lucky Hearts Poker Open main event for $77,215.
Just a few days after this victory, Carroll managed a second final-table appearance, placing eighth in event no. 7 for another $678.

The first event to kick off in the month of November was the $360 buy-in no-limit hold’em ‘Monster Stack’. A total of 112 entries in the tournament resulted in a $33,600 total prize pool that was paid out among the top 15 finishers.
The largest share was ultimately awarded to Lonnie Stevens, who took home $6,185 as the champion after striking a four-way deal at the end of the event. This was the second-largest payday ever for the Orange Park, FL resident. It increased his career live earnings to more than $35,000.
Eddy Mroczkowski, a 2021 CPPT bestbet Jacksonville event winner and final-tablist of the 2013 CPPT main event at the venue, just missed the final table, finishing tenth for $919. Mroczkowski now has more than $592,000 in recorded earnings to his name.

The first mixed-game event on the schedule was a $260 buy-in H.E.R.O.S. tournament, featuring the new preferred order for the combination of hold’em, stud eight-or-better, razz, Omaha eight-or-better, and seven card stud.
With 33 total entries, the $7,95 prize pool was split up among the top five finishers. After the elimination of Le Teiu in fifth place ($635), the remaining contenders struck a deal that saw Anthony Midolo secure the title and the top payout of $2,000.
This was Midolo’s first recorded tournament title. The win, and his eighth-place finish the following day in event no. 6, brought his lifetime earnings to more than $30,000.

The non-NLH action continued with event no. 6, a $300 buy-in ‘Big O’ tournament. The five-card pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better event attracted 60 entries to create a prize pool of $14,700.
The final pot was scooped by Tammer Ilcaffas, who earned $4,808 and his fourth career live tournament title. This victory brought his recorded live earnings to just shy of six figures.
Le Tieu took home $3,204 as the runner-up. The 2021 Spring Series $560 buy-in event third-place finisher bow has more than $92,000 in total cashes, including the $40,000 earned for that deep run at bestbet Jacksonville last year.

Event no. 7 was a $260 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament. The 95-entry turnout built a $20,425 prize pool, with the largest segment going to eventual champion Alec Wilson.
The Memphis, TN resident locked up $5,866 as the last player remaining in this event. This was the fourth-largest score on his tournament resume, with his lifetime earnings now just a few hundred dollars shy of $80,000.
Trace Henderson, an accomplished tournament player with more than $580,000 in lifetime cashes, finished fourth for $1,865.
