UltimateBet today announced that it hired Annie Duke as a consultant. Duke will oversee the poker tournament schedule at UltimateBet.
"Annie Duke has a proven track record of not only playing the game, but also knowing exactly what online poker players want to see in a tournament schedule," said UltimateBet.com spokesperson George MacLean, through a press release. "We're confident that her unparalleled insight will significantly enhance our poker offering and strengthen our online poker community."
Duke is actually returning to the company. She served as a consultant several years ago and helped design the software. The new schedule, which Duke helped make, goes into affect April 28.
"I opted to accept the poker room consultant position after spending time with UltimateBet's new senior management team," Duke said. "I am extraordinarily pleased with their commitment to wanting what's best for the poker player and I have a renewed sense of enthusiasm in the future of UltimateBet."
The new schedule will feature some changes and newly launched tournaments, including “sniper” tournaments with guaranteed prize pools, “short, super short, and mega” small-stakes satellites to give players more qualifying options, $1 turbo rebuy tourneys (feeder tourneys start at as little a 6¢), sit-and-go satellites for all the site’s major tournaments, and more World Series of Poker qualifiers.
