The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Summer Series main event in Bolton was won by Kevin Parkes of Walsall. The 33-year-old van salesman was the last player standing from a field of 77 after two days at the G casino in Bolton, and took home £12,700.

The runner-up of the £500 buy-in tournament was Allan McLean from Blackpool. Despite his vast experience, it took only a few hands for the heads-up to play out. McLean was crippled when his A-2 was run over by Parkes’ A-K, and in the last hand Parkes dominated once again with A-10 versus McLean’s J-6. The board came down K-9-5-9-Q bringing no help for the final two, and Parkes took home his first GUKPT trophy. His last GUKPT win was in a side event at the Bolton leg in 2008.

The final results were:

Kevin Parkes — £12,700
Allan McLean — £8,570
Lee Atherton — £5,780
Greg Hunt — £3,460
Andrew Bradshaw — £2,600
Anthony Mace — £2,020
Najam Qureshi — £1,540
Ghalib Hussain — £1,160
Philippa Flanders — £770

The festival also featured a £200 buy-in freezeout won by Dhanesh Patel, and a £300 buy-in freezeout won by Alli Mallu. The next stop of the GUKPT Summer Series is the G casino in Aberdeen, and then there will be another in Walsall before the main Tour begins back in August with the sixth leg in Luton. The fifth leg was held in May in Newcastle and was taken down by 22-year-old Tony Phillips for a payday of £47,200.
