Dwan Takes Lead in High-Stakes Poker Durrrr ChallengeDwan Up $726,546 After Successful Session |

Within the last week, Tom “Durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius put in an insomnia rendering 15-hour session, logging 4,253 hands. From late Thursday to the early morning hours of Friday, the two cash game legends raised their total hands played to 20,647 out of the required 50,000.
Both players are without a single cash at this year’s World Series of Poker, and have played by far more hands online together than they have live, at the pinnacle of the tournament year.
When all the mouse clicking ceased at their pot-limit Omaha tables, Dwan took a significant lead in the challenge. After being down just nine days ago, the young online phenom is up $726,546 after going on a rush that resulted in some of the biggest pots the challenge has seen thus far.
Antonius jumped off to an early lead, having Dwan stuck about 600,000. However, Dwan was able to turn things around and rescue his losses in his challenge to the poker world. Dwan was able to regain his focus even while also dueling against the likes of Gus Hansen at other tables.
Here are two of the biggest hands:
Antonius Wins Biggest Pot of Session With Superior Full House
At 200-400 PLO, Dwan was in the big blind with $273,536.50 in his virtual stack. Antonius had the button and the small blind with $238,778.00.
The action was aggressive preflop when Antonius raised to $1,200, Dwan raised to $3,600, Antonius raised to $6,000, Dwan raised to $18,000 and Antonius called $12,000.
With $36,000 in the pot, the flop came Q66.
Dwan checked, Antonius bet $16,400, Dwan raised to $47,100 and Patrik Antonius called $30,700.
The 9 hit the turn with $130,200 in the middle.
Dwan fired out a bet of $54,600, Antonius raised to $173,678 and was all-in. Dwan called $119,078
The 4 fell on the river and Dwan held the 7986, for a full house, sixes full of nines. His hand was no good as Antonius held QQK9 for queens full of sixes. Antonius took down the $477,556 monster pot.
Dwan Wins His Own $400,000 Pot
At 200-400 PLO, Dwan was in the big blind with $310,761.50. Antonius had the button and the small blind with $204,197.50.
The action was a lot quieter preflop as Antonius raised to $1,200, Dwan raised to $3,600 and Antonius called $2,400
With just $7,200 in the pot the fireworks were about to come. The flop came 982.
Dwan bets $4,800, Antonius raised to $21,600, Dwan called $16,800.
The 5 hit the turn with $50,400 in the middle.
Dwan checked, Antonius bet $50,400, Dwan raised to $201,600 and Antonius called all-in for $128,597.50.
The 10 fell on the river and Dwan held the 7867 for a ten-high straight. His hand was good as Antonius held 99A10 for a set of nines. Dwan raked in the $408,394.50 pot.
Those two hands were the only ones that breached $400,000. The majority of the large pots went to Dwan, as he took down ones of $376,790, $353,759, $282,781, $256,118 and $205,592, among others. Overall, he netted $764,000 off of Antonius in the session to take the $726,546 advantage, as both players approach the midway point of the challenge.
The match ended at just before 7 a.m. PDT, with Dwan saying he would be available to play again soon except for distractions due to Event No. 40 ($10,000 World Championship pot-limit Omaha), which both he and Antonius entered. After the flurry of their 4,253 online PLO hands, a victory in Event No. 40 would be the only way to secure a payday comparable to one of their massive, yet increasingly standard, “durrrr Challenge” confrontations.
