Davis Takes Home $437,358 and a Gold Bracelet for the Win

Michael DavisMichael Davis won the largest seniors no-limit hold’em poker tournament in history when he took home a gold bracelet in event No. 43 at the 2009 World Series of Poker on June 24. The 2,707 players that entered the 2009 $1,000 seniors no-limit hold’em world championship made it the largest seniors event on record. The total prize pool for the event was also a record ($2,463,700).

Davis walked away with $437,258 and a gold bracelet for the win. The top 270 players walked away with prize money in the event. The previous record for the largest seniors event was set last year, when 2,218 players entered the tournament. The year-over-year growth is 22 percent.

Robert Beck Eliminated in Ninth Place ($53,208)

Robert Beck and Michael Morusty took a flop of JSpade Suit 8Club Suit 6Diamond Suit. Morusty bet out 90,000 and Beck moved all in, which was instantly called by Morusty.

Morusty showed 6Heart Suit 6Club Suit, good for a set of sixes and Beck held KHeart Suit JDiamond Suit, flopping top pair. The turn was the 9Heart Suit, meaning that Beck was drawing dead and was eliminated.

Richard McCall Eliminated in Eighth Place ($56,908)

On a flop of QHeart Suit 7Heart Suit 2Heart Suit, Richard McCall moved the last of his chips in and was called by Dan DeLatorre, who showed KHeart Suit JHeart Suit, showing that he flopped a flush and was miles ahead of the QSpade Suit JDiamond Suit that was held by McCall.

The turn was the KDiamond Suit, which left McCall drawing dead and eliminated in eighth place. McCall earned $56,908 for his deep run in the tournament.

Art Duncan eliminated in Seventh Place ($64,047)

Charles Simon raised to 90,000 and Art Duncan moved all in. Simon made the call and they tabled their hands.

Simon showed KHeart Suit QSpade Suit and was ahead of the KClub Suit JHeart Suit of Duncan. The board ran out AClub Suit QDiamond Suit 6Diamond Suit 9Diamond Suit 9Heart Suit, keeping Simon in the lead and eliminating Duncan in seventh place.

Dan DeLatorre Eliminated in Sixth Place ($76,118)

Dan DeLatorre raised all in for 585,000 under the gun and Michael Morusty made the call. Their cards:
