It was a monster weekend in the world of online poker, and Sunday’s action capped off an impressive record-setting week at the virtual tables. Three sites decided to up their usual guarantees, resulting in the biggest paydays in the history of the tournaments.
The biggest prize pool belonged to the PokerStars Sunday Million, which upped its guarantee to $2 million this weekend. The players nearly doubled that, however, as 19,377 showed up for the $200 tournament. That created a prize pool of $3,875,400, $550,011 of which went to OX45AL, who was the outright winner. The tournament broke records for prize pool and entrants, which was set in November with 18,283 runners.
The big Sunday tournament on Full Tilt doubled its guarantee to $1.5 million, and it paid off when 7,578 players registered. In the end, BankOfSweden and estassyman came to a gentleman’s agreement and each walked away with over $210,000.
Lastly, the UB Online Championship (UBOC) wrapped up on Sunday with its $1,000 main event. A grand total of 1,307 players ponied up the buy-in, which allowed the tournament to easily clear it’s $1 million guarantee.
The final table was stacked with notables, including the site’s own sponsored pro Michael Binger, who finished in fifth place. It eventually came down to Dave “DOUBLEDAVE22” D’Alesandro (pictured above right) and Lauren “SUPERMODL” Kling for the title.
On the final hand, Kling got it in holding pocket nines and was in great shape against D’Alesandro’s pocket fives. Unfortunately for her, the flop had a 5 to end her tournament run. D’Alesandro took home $277,977 for the victory.
