Home Game Poker Players Face Two Years In Jail Under New Law

Budapest bans poker home gamesHungarian poker players face up to two years in prison if they are caught playing poker outside of a casino or officially sanctioned card club according to business website realdeal.hu.

A new law introduced on May 1, 2010 and based on a bill passed in December 2009 criminalises poker players outside of these very strict venues and i likely to affect up to 20,000 players in Budapest alone according to the report.

The Hungarian Poker Association says it plans to challenge the new laws in the Constitutional Court and that up to 140,000 online poker players in the country are also subject to draconian laws relating to poker.
