Switzerland bans poker tournaments outside of casinosThe Supreme Court in Switzerland today ruled that poker is a game of luck and not skill and as such tournaments cannot be held outside of casinos according to Associated Press.

The decision overruled a previous ruling from a lower court, appealed by Swiss casinos, which stated poker was a game of skill and could therefore be played anywhere.

However smaller home games will be allowed to continue even when playing with real money.

Marc Friedrich, head of the Swiss Federation of Casinos, told Associated Press that, “A parallel sector started to develop that did not have the same regulations and rules as casinos,” claiming that up to 100 tournaments were taking place each week around the country.
