South Korean police recently arrested 33 hackers who allegedly used a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) program to cheat online poker players out of 55 million won (approx. $45,000).
Up to 11,000 computers in the country were infected by the Netbot Attacker program, purchased from a Chinese hacker, which allowed the hackers to see online poker players hole cards and defraud them of cash.
The gang were led by 29 and 30-year-old hackers according to The Cyber Terror Response Centre in South Korea.
They allegedly broke into rooms holding computer and secretly installed the rogue program to facilitate the fraud.
The investigation is ongoing.
