Aussie Millions 2010 - Photo courtesy of Aussie MillionsThe prestigious Aussie Millions began last week at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia, and Card Player has made its way down under to offer coverage of the upcoming high stakes action.

The tournament schedule runs from January 13-31, with 20 events taking to the felt. Card Player will feature live updates and photos from the AUD $100,000 high roller event (Jan. 22) and the AUD $10,000 main event (Jan. 23). Card Player TV will feature daily videos from the tournaments.

In 2010, the AUD $100,000 Challenge drew in 24 players for a prize pool of AUD $2.4 million. When the action reached heads up, Daniel Shak beat Phil Ivey to win the event and the AUD $1.2 million top prize. The AUD $10,000 main event drew in 746 players, and Australia’s own Tyron Krost was crowned champion, earning AUD $2 million. The field is expected to be even larger this year, and the winner will be decided on Jan. 29.

Other events to keep an eye on in the coming days include the AUD $10,500 Australia no-limit hold’em heads-up championship (Jan. 26) and the AUD $10,500 8-game mixed event (Jan. 27). There will also be a Aussie Millions high stakes cash game on Jan. 24 featuring a AUD $200,000 minimum buy-in.
