Peter NeffEvent No. 3 - Limit Hold'em

While it is true that no-limit hold'em has taken over, possibly for good, it can't quite be said that its limit counterpart is dead. Event No. 3, a $200+$15 buy-in tournament, was given a guarantee of just $300,000 for Saturday afternoon's first World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) tournament of the day. Instead, the field of 2,258 generated a huge total prize pool of $451,600, guaranteeing the winner nearly $75,000 for first place.

The final table was loaded with notable online stars, including BadcardsAA, who has final-tabled the Nightly Hundred Grand seven times, Luke "Bdbeatslayer" Vrabel, and Peter "#1PEN" Neff. When it was all over, Neff was bested heads up by cwp394 for his first WCOOP win.

Here were the final results:

  1. cwp394 — $73,385
  2. Peter "#1PEN" Neff — $54,192
  3. Teacher G — $38,927
  4. Luke "Bdbeatslayer" Vrabel — $26,192
  5. edwinv070 — $21,676
  6. skizer — $17,160
  7. Perumov — $12,644
  8. BadcardsAA — $8,128
  9. lucky_aces08 — $5,012

Vanesa RoussoEvent No. 4 - Deuce to Seven Triple Draw

Sticking with mixed games for the time being, the deuce-to-seven triple-draw event drew strong numbers when 734 players ponied up the $200+$15 buy-in to create a prize pool of $146,800. The winner would take home the lion's share of about $25,000.

More than 100 players made the money, and Team PokerStars did its best to take up as many of those slots as possible. Among the notables to cash were Chad Brown, Isabelle "NoMercy" Mercier, John Duthie, Alex Kravchenko, and Vanessa "LadyMaverick" Rousso. Craig "MrCasino" Gray also managed to cash, finishing in the money in both WCOOP events of the evening.

Here were the final results:

  1. playitsafe — $24,809
  2. mardene — $18,555
  3. thevoice72 — $13,579
  4. jordan999 — $11,010
  5. Mills23 — $8,074
  6. gudfaren — $5,505

There will be two more WCOOP events today, a $10,000+$300 no-limit hold'em tournament and a $500+$30 no-limit hold'em tournament.
