European Poker Tour Prague Day 1B Update

World Champion Peter Eastgate had the honour of announcing, "shuffle up and deal," before he took to his seat alongside 297 others in day 1B of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Prague. Combined with the 272 from day 1A, the total field numbered 570 (up from last year’s 555) in the Hilton Hotel Casino in the Czech Republic, and a prize pool of €2,764,500 was generated.

Some of them, like Marino Serenelli, Nico Behling, Ivo Donev, William Fry, and Joao Barbosa may ring a bell among poker enthusiasts who have tuned in to recent EPTs, in particular the last two, who are champions of the Hungary and Poland legs.

There was a healthy sprinkling of pros and familiar faces in the field, including Dario Minieri, Katja Thater, Roland de Wolfe, Nenad Medic, Noah Boeken, Juha Helppi, Praz Bansi, Alexander Kravchenko, Davidi Kitai, Andreas Krause, and William Thorsson.

Others included online whizz kids and up-and-coming names such as Anthony Lellouche, Ramzi Jelassi, Ricardo Sousa, and Jonas Molander.

 An early casualty was Ivo Donev, who did not realize his overpair was behind until his opponent flipped over pocket kings. Donev's pocket ladies could not make the cut, and the event waved an early goodbye to a likeable character on the international circuit.
 
With all the action preflop, online poker star Ramzi Jelassi got all his chips in with A-K versus pocket queens.
Jelassi pleaded, "One time!" But it wasn't going to be this time, and he made his way toward the exit.

Roland de Wolfe who looked a bit worse for wear today — and was admittedly so — and was eliminated early. James Akenhead was a name for the early bustout list, as well.

Former EPT season 1 winner from France Pascal Perrault hit the rail with A-K against Nicholas Levi's 5-2, while Peter Eastgate also had an early bath holding A-K. He hit his ace on the flop and pushed, but his opponent Stuart Rutter made two pair with A-3 and took him out.

Mid-session casualties included Jan Boubli, Sander Lylloff, Nenad Medic, Alex Kravchenko, Katja Thater, Jonas Molander, William Fry, and Andreas Hoivold.

While late eliminations came in the form of  Ben Grundy, Marc Goodwin, Michael Keiner, Nico Behling, Florian Langmann, William Thorsson, and Alex Fitzgerald.

The number of players making the cut at the end of play was 94. Combined with 88 from day 1A, we’ll see 177 return today for day 2. The top 10 in chips are:
