O Canada, O Canada — two Canadians distanced themselves from the rest of the field at the World Series of Poker Circuit main event at Caesars, Atlantic City on Saturday as Samuel Chartier scored the big win for $322,944, while John Nixon took home $177,619.
The Circuit event saw 208 players pony up the $5,150 buy-in and compete in the three-day tournament.
Chartier arrived at the final table as one of the short-stacks but battled back to lock up the six-figure score. In the final hand of the night, Chartier’s A-J held up over Nixon’s A-10.
Chartier has had some tournament success in the past. The 23-year-old won more than $250,000 when he made the final table of the EPT Barcelona main event. Besides the $322,944 for this win, Chartier also received an entry to the WSOP main event and a gold ring to commemorate his victory.
The Atlantic City tournament was the seventh of 10 WSOP Circuit events for this season.
