Erkut Yilmaz Wins Card Player Poker Tour Atlantis Main Event

CPPT Atlantis Champ Erkut YilmazAfter a three-hour heads-up battle Erkut Yilmaz defeated Vincent Remmel to win the Card Player Poker Tour Atlantis $1,100 no-limit hold’em $125,000 guarantee main event for $42,665.

After trading chips and the chip lead back and forth, Remmel moved all-in for his last 430,000 and Yilmaz snap-called. Remmel showed ADiamond Suit2Spade Suit and Yilmaz turned up KHeart Suit5Spade Suit. The would-be champion picked up a pair of fives on a flop of 10Spade Suit5Diamond Suit3Club Suit. The turn was the 10Diamond Suit and the 8Diamond Suit on the river would seal the deal with Yilmaz as the winner. He also picked up 336 Card Player Player of the Year points.

Yilmaz outlasted a field of 182 players to become the fourth CPPT champion of Season II. Remmel left with $34,467 for his efforts.

Remmel Doubles

Erkut Yilmaz moved all in from the button and Remmel called off his remaining 320,000.

“I only looked at a queen,” said Yilmaz as he tabled QDiamond SuitJClub Suit.

Remmel tabled KDiamond SuitQSpade Suit and was in great shape for a double up, though he would have been fine with losing.

“Just spike a jack and let’s all go to sleep,” said Remmel before the flop was dealt.

The dealer peeled off a flop of 4Club Suit3Diamond Suit2Diamond Suit and Yilmaz was still searching for a jack to end the tournament.

“Nope,” said Remmel. “Looks like we are going to be playing a little bit longer.”

The turn and river were both bricks and Remmel doubled up to just 670,000.

Yilmaz Doubles, Takes Massive Chip Lead

Vincent Remmel raised to 48,000 on the button and Erkut Yilmaz three-bet to 148,000. Remmel took a few seconds before announcing he was all in.

“Did he say all in?” asked Yilmaz. “Ok, I call.”

Yilmaz tabled ADiamond SuitKDiamond Suit and was in great shape to double up against Remmel’s KSpade Suit7Heart Suit.

“Oops,” said Remmel. “King salmon floating up stream. Or down. I don’t know.”

The flop was QHeart Suit8Spade Suit6Heart Suit and Remmel was still searching for a seven to end the tournament. The turn was the 6Spade Suit and the river was the 8Club Suit and Remmel scooped the pot with ace high.

It took just over a minute to count down Yilmaz’s stack and verify that he was all in for 1,087,000. Yilmaz doubles up to 2,174,000 and Remmel slides to 584,000.

“That was a little big misstep there,” said Remmel. “Now you definitely have the chip lead.”

Vincent Remmel limped in on the button and Erkut Yilmaz raised to 50,000 out of the big blind. Both players checked to the river as the board ran out ADiamond SuitQSpade Suit3Diamond Suit7Spade SuitASpade Suit and Yilmaz checked again.

Remmel bet 65,000 and was check-raised to 250,000 by Yilmaz. After a few moments in the tank, Remmel called and Yilmaz tabled KSpade SuitQClub Suit. Remmel mucked his hand and Yilmaz scooped the pot.
