USING THE ODDS CALCULATOR
- Select the "Number of Players" from the pull-down menu, by selecting a number greater than 0.
- Click on the cards from the deck, and as you do, they will become the players' hands. If you make a mistake, click on the card you don't want and it will be returned to the deck.
- Selecting cards for the flop, turn and river is optional.
- After the cards are in place, either click the "Calculate Odds" button, or add the flop (and a turn card, or a river card, if you wish), and the click "Calculate Odds".
- After you click the "Calculate Odds" button, the winning percentages will display above each hand.
- If at any time you wish to start over from scratch, click "Reset All".
NOTE: Results may differ if you rerun a calculation using the same hand. This is because the figures are the result of a Monte Carlo simulation (sampling from the deal of a few thousand random hands), not an exhaustive enumeration of every possible flop.
LEGEND FOR OMAHA CALCULATOR
High only results:
The first figure shows outright winners.
Tie: Ties only.
EE (expected equity): Actual returned fraction of the pot for the hand
High-low results
Scoop: Outright winners for both high and low.
Hi: Outright winners for high.
Lo: Outright winners for the low.
EE (expected equity): Actual returned fraction of the pot for the hand
NOTE: Calculated results reflect odds of winning only. Hands that are
potentially the high or the low will only have calculated results if they
would result in winning the hand. Tied hands may affect the calculated
equity value.
How to use Expected Equity Value
Your average share of a pot (before the cards dealt) is equal to the pot size divided by the number of playres. For example, in a 2-player matchup, you should get a 50% share of a pot; in a 3-player matchup, you should get a 33% share; and so on. If you're playing heads-up, if the Expected Equity number is greater than .500, you have a positive expectation; if it's less, you have a negative expectation. If you're playing in a 3-way pot, if th Expected Equity number is greater than .333, you have a positive expectation; if it is less, you have a negative expectation.
