Updates on Final Day (Jun 05, 07)

Tom Schneider Wins Omaha/Seven Card Stud High/Low 8/OB ($214,347)

The third time was a charm for Tom Schneider.  Having previously making two other WSOP final table without a victory he  entered the final table of the Omaha/Seven Card Stud High/Low 8/OB as the chip leader.  As he had hoped he left with a coveted bracelet. He needed little more then an hour to dust off second place finisher Ed Tonnellier.  Tonnellier made an impressive run of his own, starting the day last in chips with just $69,000.  He was all in against Anne Duke three handed, doubled up and carried the momentum to one more spot higher on the pay scale.  His second finish was good for
$118,456.

Schneider and Tonnellier played two key hands to determine the outcome.  Heads up play started with 15 minutes left in $20,000 $40,000 limit Omaha and Schnieider wasted no time, taking a big pot off of Tonnellier on the first hand.  Schneider limped on the button and Tonnellier checked.  The flop came 993, Schneider bet and Tonnellier raised.  Schneider called and the turn was the 3.  Schneider checked, Tonnellier bet and Schneider check raised.  Tonnellier made the call and the river was the 6.  Schneider bet again and Tonnellier made the the call.  Schneider tabled A937 and Tonnellier mucked.  Schneider took down the next hand, and by the time play had got to $10,000-$30,000 with a $7,000 ante stud, Schneider has a commanding chip lead.

He wore Tonnellier down to just three $1,000 chips and it was clear Schneider had the win in the bag.  Tonnellier didn't give up and he ended up running his stack back up over $20,000 before Schneider was able to finish the job.  With both players all in when Schneider completed, he was dealt AQ4 and Tonnellier KK2.  4th street brought Schneider the A and Tonnellier the 9.  With the rail calling for an ace, six street complied and gave Schneider the A and he took the lead in the hand.  It also brought Tonnellier the 3 and he picked up two pair and a flush draw.  Tonnellier's seventh street didn't matter however, when Schneider filled up with the 4 to win his first WSOP bracelet.

Tronnellier Rolling:
Ferguson's elimination brought action down to three handed and Ed Tonnellier was ready to make his move.  Annie Duke raised from the small blind to $40,000, Tonnellier reraised and Duke called.  The flop came 986, Tonnellier bet and Duke called.  The turn was the A, Duke checked and Tonnellier bet.  Duke called again and the river was the 3.  Duke checked Tonnellier bet and Duke called.  Tonnellier tabled A832 and Duke mucked her hand.  That was a huge score for Tonnellier, and he more then doubled up.  It also gave him more chips then Duke, and set the stage for her elimination.

Annie Duke Eliminated 3rd ($75,210)
On the short stack Annie Duke raises to $40,000 and both Tonnellier and Tom Schneider both call.  The flop comes 653, Tonnellier checks, Schneider checks and Duke checks.  The turn is the 9 Tonnellier bets and Schneider folds.  Duke raises all in and Tonnellier calls.  The river comes 8 and Tonnellier shows down AA32.  Duke briefly exposes her cards then fires them into the muck. She gets a nice round of applause as he exits in third place with $75,210.
That brings the tournament to heads up action, here are the estimated chip counts:
