Indeed, that's what the PaddyPowerPoker.com Irish Open is truly all about. It's an event that brings all kinds of people together; the young and the old, from far and wide to share in the fun and excitement that annually surounds the Irish Open, all in the hope of capturing one of poker's most prestigious titles. And with the numbers now expected to be up around the seven hundred mark, it really should come as no surprise to anyone as to the amount of craic and camaraderie that is almost certain to take place this weekend.

However, the glory and the success of the Irish Open didn't just happen overnight my friends … Oh no, this event has been brewing for a long time and has crowned such great Irish champions like Noel Furlong and Liam 'The Gentleman' Flood. It's title holds so much prestige that (if I may say so myself) might only be second to that of the WSOP main event when it comes to tournaments that the Irish poker player would lust after most.

And to all those who think that they are going to turn up at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin and capture this elusive title should prepare themselves mentally and physically for a battle like no other; a tournament like no other … as the biggest of big are making there way to lay their claim for the title of Irish Open champ. Yep, we will see Jamie Gold, Neil Channing, Tony G, Brian Townsend, Marty Smyth, Dan Harrington and many more!

Get the pints in the air!

Wish me luck,

Ciaran

Ciaran 'Big C' O'Leary has won his fair share of smaller tournaments over the years, but all that changed when he captured event number 3 at the 2007 World Series of Poker, winning (at the time) the biggest tournament in poker history outside of the 2005 & 2006 WSOP main events.
