Golf at Muirfield with Mike Gracz and Paul Taylorby Roy Winston | Published: May 21, '10 |
I just finished playing a few days of golf at Muirfield in Dublin Ohio where the PGA Tour is scheduled to be next week for The Memorial Tournament. I had the opportunity to play there years ago and am thrilled to have had the opportunity to return. I was invited along by one of the best unknown Vegas cash pro’s, Paul Taylor and fellow Full Tilt pro Mike Gracz. We had an unbelievable time here although I have to say our golf play was pretty unspectacular. It is in my top 5 of golf courses that I have played. It’s old school with no golf carts, walking with caddies and is in immaculate condition. The quality of the course along with the level of service and the staff was most excellent. I can’t wait to watch it on TV next week.
The first time I ever played a hand of Texas Holdem was at a Casino in the Palm Springs Valley and Paul Taylor, then a local golf superintendant, was the regular big winner in the game. I got to know Mike Gracz through Paul and have learned a lot of poker from both of them. We often discuss strategy and how we played or miss played hands and help each other. Having a group of players you can discuss hands in a positive way, not telling bad beat stories, I find extremely helpful to my game. The time away was a tremendous amount of fun and after a huge number of golf and other prop bets it all came out about even between the three of us.
I would like to congratulate Fred Berger for his win at the WSOP circuit in New Orleans, he is a great player and one of the good guys in poker.
