I have been taking it pretty easy lately, spending time with friends and family and playing online. Now that the mini-FTOP’s series has begun I will be digging in and playing away along with some Rush Poker cash games. I have mentioned this before, but I really enjoy the Rush tournaments. When you have limited time you can play through a fairly large field event quickly.

I have some suggestions of things I recommend and some that I would avoid which I have accumulated over the past few weeks.

First of all, I highly recommend participating in an online charity event September 12th taking place on Full Tilt Poker called “Shaun Doss Miracle”, Shaun was in a car accident a few years back that left him paralyzed from the chest down. His family is a good friend of someone I have worked closely with the past couple of years and respect highly. Shaun will have Surgery next month in Panama that may give him a very good chance to walk again, so I wanted to help encourage players to participate in the tournament and help raise money for the surgery. The buy-in will be $5 + $5 with the $5 entry fee from each player benefiting The Shaun Doss Miracle Fund to help pay for his costly surgery.

The tournament will start at 18:00 ET (6 PM ET/3 PM PT), you can locate the tournament in the private lobby, or by pressing Ctrl-t from the main lobby and enter tournament number 183361756.

I have seen a few movies lately which I thought were pretty good and one that I expected to be decent was horrendous.

The surprise great movie was “Mao’s Last Dancer.” I was away with family and I got dragged to it expecting the worst and it was really excellent. We also saw “The American” that looked solid from the trailer’s but was one of the worst movies I have seen in a long while. Not only was the plot bad, but, their technical consultants were way off when it come to firearms. They took a plain Ruger Mini 14 rifle and made it out to be some highly custom sniper rifle. I’m not saying it isn’t a decent weapon, but not for the build up. They also had a scene at the beginning where a couple of assassins miss under conditions that my German Shepherd could hit the target, although he does lack a certain dexterity with his paws, but I digress. Anyway, my advice is save your money, or wait a few weeks until you find it on cable, actually I wouldn’t even bother on cable.

Next stop for me will be Borgata for their Fall event which I will profile next time. Here is the link:
