Hilary Clinton, Roger Clemens and Steroidsby Roy Winston | Published: Jan 09, '08 |
I still have not completely adjusted to the time change here in Australia, and seem to get up early in the morning. I am using the time to catch up on emails and watch some TV. It would seem that every news station, both international and those from the US are very focused on not only our presidential race, but steroid use in major league baseball. Although this is not meant to be a political blog I just don't understand who could support Hilary Clinton. As long as I'm on this tirade, what is up with this whole steroids in baseball issue. As a physician and someone who obviously loves competition I would have to say anabolic steroids for performance enhancement are a bad thing. One could debate how the system pushes young athletes to increase their speed and strength, and that steroids are readily available to any athlete. However the broader and more relevant issue is who really cares. Senator Mitchell should be ashamed of himself for wasting our precious tax dollars and resources on what amounts to folly. We are a nation plagued with real issues; the war in Iraq, health care, education, poverty, housing market collapse, sky rocketing oil prices and a looming recession not to mention getting online poker back, so come on and stop wasting our time and money. Has Roger Clemens used performance enhancing steroids? Well let's see, he is 45 years old, looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger from his old days before he became the "Governator", seems to be in a permanent state of steroid rage, (just ask Mike Piazza) and pitched 99 innings in 18 games this year. We are supposed to believe he was getting B12 injected in his butt? I'll leave this one for you to figure out.
