Tournament Bad, Cash Game Good

This afternoon I played the 2.5k event at the LA Poker Classic. My very first hand I pick up 9 10 on the button and raise 3BB. The small and big blinds call me, the flop comes 9 9 10. The SB bets out and the BB calls, I raise and the SB folds. The BB bets out after a blank on the turn and I raise and he calls. The river brings another blank and he checks and I go all in for the last 2k of my initial 5k. He insta calls me and drops his cards in the muck after I show my hand, wow a first hand double up.

Chad Brown then sits down, arriving 10 minutes late. He and I often seem to be at the same starting table at events. I like Chad and enjoy catching up with him whenever we are at the table. He raised on his first hand and got one caller. The flop comes Q 10 4, and Chad leads out and gets raised. Chad re-raises and is then re-raised all in. Chad takes a minute and calls. He rolls over A Q, and his opponent has Q 10. Chad's hand doesn't improve and he says "I hope I still have my seat downstairs in the cash game."

A couple of hands later there are 5 limpers around to me, and I look down at 6 4 in the BB, and I check. The flop brings 3 5 7, and I check, and it's then checked around. An 8 comes on the turn, and I lead out with a pot sized bet and I get one caller. The river is a 10, and I bet and am raised all in. I call and he shows J 9, there go half my chips. Three hands later I pick up Q Q and raise in mid position and get called by the button. The flop comes 2 6 9 and I move all in. The button goes into the tank and says I guess we are chopping and calls, then he shows A K and says "oops" when he sees my Queens. Of course a King falls on the turn and I'm headed downstairs to play cash games.

Now it was my turn to get my money in bad. I'm playing in a 50-100 No Limit cash game and have been slowly chipping up, winning small pots. I am in the big blind and it's folded around to Rod in the cutoff, who raises to 300. Kido Pham calls from the small blind and I look down at 3 5 and call. The flop comes J 10 4. With 1,200 in the pot Kido and I both check and Rod bets out 1,200. Kido announces raise and quickly makes it 5,000. I go into the tank and cut out chips for the call and start taking inventory of my remaining chips. Up to now I have played these cash games relatively tight and I know Kido likes to make moves, so I re-raised all in for an additional 19,000. Rod, Hollywood's for 15 seconds and say's "Bottom set in the muck." Kido takes what seems like forever and I'm again trying my Jedi mind control, projecting "muck, muck, muck" which fails yet again, I really need some help with this. Kido calls. The turn is a 3, and the river another 3, and I suck out. Kido has J 10, and I have to say was a total gentleman. Don't get me wrong I am very happy that I won the hand, however I would of rather put my money in ahead. Obviously, I thought he wasn't going to call, so much for my tight image.
