Relaxing In The Desert

I spent today in the Palm Springs Valley with a few good friends. First golf with Joe McGowan and Layne Flack http://www.cardplayer.com/players/results/Layne-Flack/1284 , and then a poker game at the Spa Casino Poker Room in Palm Springs. It was an interesting round because Joe is a PGA pro and he took on Layne and I. Joe shot a 1 over par round with many birdies and whined all the way around about how bad he was playing. Layne and I played a scramble format against him and still lost.

Then came the poker game, with the three of us along with Perry Greene, who has 3 WSOP bracelets and was runner up to Stu Unger in the main event, Hassan Kamoei 1 WSOP bracelet and multiple final tables, Carl Westcott who just filmed a poker TV show with Phil Hellmuth and is featured in this month's Cardplayer magazine,
http://www.cardplayer.com/players/results/Carl-Westcott/69873 After a couple of hours of No Limit, we broke the game to have dinner and talk. One of the conversations was Carl and Layne sticking up for Phil Hellmuth, and although everyone respects his talent, people always have an opinion about Phil, and either love or hate him from a personality stand point. Carl and Layne both agreed that once you get to know him well, he is a great guy and you really like him, but still think he lives in "Phil World." After a little golf in the morning, back to the Commerce.
