LAPC Main Event: On Life Support

I just finished playing the first day of the main event of the LAPC. The field was a little smaller than anticipated, 668 began the day and after 5 levels about 425 remain, and I'm still in but on life support with 6,200, average stack is about 33,000. The good news is that we resume tomorrow with 200/400 blinds so I still have some play and I can assure you that no one is trying any harder than me. I felt that I played well but had AK run into AA with a flop of K 9 4, and I eventually mucked but not until I lost a whole bunch of chips. The other bad news was that I picked up pocket aces twice in the big blind and got a walk both times. Now that's just sick. Anyway, tomorrow is another day and if I can get a couple of good spots during the first level or two I'll be right back in it. If not, well there are always cash games. I'd like to share some interesting hands, but it was really just a slow grind type of day. My table was actually pretty good with Liz Lieu, Matt lefkowitz, Miami John, Carlos Mortenson, and Vince Van Patton. I am going to grab dinner and some wine with friends and will hopefully have more good to talk about tomorrow.
