Wynn Main Event Day # 1

Day 1 just finished and I have to say it was a good day. I ran well and played well, which is a good combination. I got lucky in a hand against Max Pescatore when he limped UTG +1 and UTG +2 shoved for 12k, I look down at A K in the BB and go all in, covering Max by about 20k. I thought Max had Jacks or A Q, but he agonized over a call and eventually called with K K. I got lucky with an Ace coming on the flop. My table broke shortly after that and I wound up at a tough table. I had Tom Dwan on my right and David Singer next to him, along with Eugene Todd. Tom was aggressive, playing lots of pots, his game is really impressive. My most fun hand of the day came after not playing a hand for an hour. I looked down at 2 3 UTG and raised 4 BB. The button called, putting me on a decent pair or AK. The flop was beautiful, 4 5 6. I opened for a pot sized bet which was called quickly. The turn brought a 7, which I again bet about a pot sized bet. The river came a K, and I again bet the pot, which was insta-called. My opponent tabled 8 8 for a straight and was pretty surprised when he saw my 2 3. He remarked "you don't play a hand all day and you raise under the gun with that, you had me fooled." Thank god the 6 didn't come, now that would have been sick.

About 90 players remain and Mike Matusow has the chip lead with me in 2nd place. He already told me that he wants a rematch with me at the final table. I hope it comes to that.
