Golf with Dale Jarrett, My First Week Playing On Full Tiltby Roy Winston | Published: Apr 10, '08 |
Yesterday I spent the day in Scottsdale with NASCAR legend Dale Jarrett, on the golf course. I was invited to play with Dale, Marc Smith the NASCAR producer on the Speed Chanel, and the winner of an event on a NASCAR poker site Steven Warner. Dale is a partner in a poker site where players compete for fun and prizes. The day was really wonderful, perfect weather, good people, the TPC Stadium course, and great golf, okay you got me I tried to bluff on the great golf part, but 3 out of 4 isn't too bad.
I have to say Dale Jarrett was not only a great golfer, but a great person to spend a day on the golf course with. He seemed to have a birdie putt n many of the holes and even when he got into some trouble, usually managed to save par. Steve, the VLPCLUB.net winner said it was a thrill of a lifetime to play with Dale. The TPC Stadium course is where they play one of the PGA tour stops in January. We had a film crew with us and a photographer for Speed Channel and the VLP Club. Our round of golf will air this Friday on the Speed Channel as part of NASCAR programming. I hope they can edit out about 90% of my golf game.
I have been playing online at Full Tilt for a whole week now and would like to share some of my observations and stories. First, every time I play 2 or 3 games simultaneously I think about Hevad Khan and his playing 16 games at the same time and I am in awe. I will say that there is no way you can be on top of all the action in 16 games, as far as the nuances of the game. However I do take my hat off to those guys who can do it. My experiences with the chat have been interesting. Most are really pretty good, it's just the occasional player who gets upset when they lose and vents in a nasty way. I am probably more of a target having my real name up there and in red to boot, as compared to other new online players. I often miss player's questions and remarks in the chat window as I am trying to keep up in the game(s). I absolutely love the speed at which the game is played and how many hands you can see in a session. Also, the ability to play different games at a wide range of stakes is really great. Starting out I have been playing relatively low stakes games compared to the live action games I play. I am expecting to make more mistakes and would like to keep the damage to a minimum. Last night I played a 50/100 HORSE game while in a tournament, and I mean 50/100 pennies. I absolutely loved it. The players were really nice and it was great fun. I did get killed losing $17.50. One of the mistakes I made there was when the game switched from stud hi to hi/lo, it cost me $2.00.
