Off to NY for vacation and the Full Tilt FTOPSby Roy Winston | Published: Aug 01, '08 |
I am off to NY today. I am flying into Albany then driving to Schroon Lake to meet family. It is a little weird returning to where I spent childhood summers from about age 8 until 18. I am looking forward to it. There will be no live poker, although there is a small home game I was told I am not welcome. What they don't realize is that I'm a complete fish in a small limit game where you can't push people off hands. All night long it will be call, call, call.
Next weekend I'm heading over to the Borgata for the 2k deep stack event. I am looking forward to the play there in the live action games.
I have been playing at the Commerce for the past week and things have gone okay. James Woods was in the game yesterday and we spent a lot of time talking about everything from poker to his cute co-star in his TV series Shark. James and I met at the LA poker classic at the Commerce 2 1/2n years ago when we played next to each other in the main event. He finished 23rd and I came in 22nd, it was my first big cash, and probably in some way responsible for getting me hooked on tournament poker. It was a tough game yesterday with the usual Commerce pros and some Vegas rounders thrown in now that the action in Vegas has slowed.
I have also been playing online at Full Tilt and playing as many satellites as I can for the upcoming FTOPS events. I will be hosting one of the events, a $240 buy in 6 handed knock out event. I have been getting deep in a lot of tournaments but can't seem to make it happen at the end. I hope I can win one eventually. Off to the airport.
