Phan, Flack, and The Upcoming Borgata

The main event at the Legends went well for the first three levels, and then it was all downhill for me. I lost a pretty big pot when I flopped the top end of an open ended straight flush draw with JQ suited and the board went brick, brick. Then I lost AA and KK, and I was out. I have to say I had a large number of big hands, some I won and some well, they didn't go so well.

The good news is that one of my close friends John Phan is among the final 6 players for today's final table. The bad news is John eliminated another close friend, Layne Flack, by cracking his aces after they were all in pre-flop, john flopped a 7 to make a set. I hope John can make it happen today. What was disappointing about the Legends was the almost 20% drop in players. I have some thoughts about that, but I'll save that for another time. No need to get another poker room angry with me.

I'm going to take this week off and will be at Borgata next weekend. I will be playing a bunch of the preliminary events and be joined by my good friend Jay Berger. He has been working on his game the past 6 months and I'm interested to see how he does. I am really looking forward to this tournament series. Tab, the tournament director, along with the rest of the staff, provide a high level of service. I wouldn't be surprised if they had more players than last year, they are offering a 5 million dollar guarantee for the main event. Both the tournament area and the live action room are two of the nicest facilities I have seen anywhere. They also opened their new tower and I'm looking forward to staying there. There is a lot I love about the Borgata, and don't even get me started on the cocktail waitresses, although I'd like to get started on them.
