The Cordi's, Hard Rock Weekend, FTOPS, WSOP Final Tableby Roy Winston | Published: Nov 04, '08 |
After a few days off in Rancho Mirage, I'm headed back to Las Vegas tomorrow for the WSOP final table weekend and a few events. I wanted to mention a couple of friends who recently had some great success lately, the Cordi family. I have known Joe Cordi for several years; we met playing poker together in the Indian casinos of the Palm Springs Valley. Joe is now a fixture in the main no limit holdem game at the Commerce, he slugs it out on a daily basis with some of the best in the world including Kenny Tran. Joe has two sons who also play poker professionally, Daniel and Michael who turned 21 just a short time ago. This past week at Caesars Michael won a preliminary no limit holdem event, brother Daniel had just placed 41st in the Bellagio 15k main event after winning a satellite to get in, and to top it off Joe just finished 3rd in the Caesars main event. Congratulations to the Cordi family on a great October.
This weekend prior to the final table, at The Hard Rock Poker Lounge, there will be a couple of great events. Friday night will be the Chip Leader Challenge, hosted by Dennis Phillips, which will feature 20 players, some pro's, some celebrities, and of course me, in a shoot out format. On Saturday the Hard Rock hosts a new event called Dream Team Poker. I was invited on a team put together by Nancy Tyner, who won the WPT woman's championship this past April.
I will also be back on the Fox morning show before and after the final table to give the preview and then after action report. If this is not enough the Full Tilt FTOPS is kicking off tomorrow and is offering a great schedule of events.
