Bet Fold on the Turn, Good Job MJ

I am back in NY City for some family time and will head back to Borgata on Tuesday to play the Deep stack and the rest of the events. I had a good last day in cash games before I left. One interesting hand that had never happened to me before came in the $25-50 no limit holdem. One of the players who is a regular in the NY/NJ high stakes games and plays well but loves action and is uber-aggressive joined the game on my left, where I hate to have him. I made it $200 with KJ and he raised $800 pre-flop. The flop came A J 7 and I checked to him 100% sure he would bet and reasonably sure I had the best hand. He bets $1,400 and I call. The turn is a 2 and after I check he makes it $4,000 and I insta-call and he mucks his hand right away, before the river card. The whole table started laughing, and the dealer looked confused.

On a positive note MJ Bernstein won the 1k event. I mentioned him in my last blog and said I thought I expected him to do well this series. I guess I get to keep the name Oracle a little while longer. Congratulations MJ and I hope it continues.

I am headed to the Knicks game today, which I always enjoy. Then dinner with some friends. It is great having NY City so close to the Borgata and beginning next month there is direct train service which will be a welcome improvement. I haven't figured out exactly how I'm getting back tomorrow.
