Finally at the WSOP

The 2009 WSOP is finally upon us and I can’t wait to play in my first event. My plan was to see how many players were in the 40k NLH event, but now on the schedule it looks like it isn’t being televised, so the value is somewhat diminished. Additionally the 1k NLH event which has two first start days, Saturday and Sunday is going to be televised. It should draw close to 5,000 runners, which will equate to a 5 million dollar prize pool and a heck of a lot of value.

I will be doing some work at the Full Tilt Academy with some teaching videos with Lizzy Harrison whom I used to work with at Card Player. I am not sure what the topics will be, but it should be interesting. I am still a relatively new online player, having been playing for only about a year and a half, and I have to say I enjoy it more and more each day. The ability to find a game at any time and the pace of play makes it truly wonderful. I do miss looking into my opponents eyes but, it’s still great. I am often asked what’s the best way to improve your game, or learn new games. I would have to say the online environment is an excellent learning place. The number of hands and situations you can play is monstrous.

For those of you that make it out to the WSOP, feel free to come by and say hello. I wish all of you good luck and much success at the World Series, except of course when you are in a hand against me! I will be providing updates on Twitter, under the user name of RoyWinston and this blog is now being carried on the Full Tilt Website.
