WPT Back at Borgata

I have been back home for a couple of weeks now and although I have been playing a little online at Full Tilt, I am ready for some live action. I have to mention I really like the 7 game mix now on Full Tilt. It’s HORSE plus Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Holdem, and I love it.

Before I get to an interesting rumor I heard on The Borgata’s upcoming Fall series, I wanted to mention my decision to head to Atlantic City for the Borgata Deep Stack on August 2-5. There are 2 first start days on Sunday and Monday. The event gives you 30k in starting chips and the usual great Borgata structure. They also run a well designed 1:5 satellite the days before the main event.

Okay, so the stories of what Borgata is doing in September for the main (September 9-24, main starting on the 19th) event have ranged from a 10k with the WPT, to a 2k main event without any WPT or TV. So, what I hear is they have reached an agreement with the WPT (or are very close to reaching one) and have decided to run a $3,500 televised Mike and Vince final table WPT main event. I think this is the best thing to happen to poker since the check raise.

The Borgata is once again taking the lead when it comes to providing the players with well thought out innovation and value. I am sure they will have a sizeable guarantee for the event as well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 750-1,000 players turn out for this. I am getting married 9 days after the final table and I fully intend to be there, once I ask permission that is, I really hope one of those giant beer cans doesn’t fall from the sky and crush me. Those of you who make the trip to the Borgata can join me for a drink or two or three at what might be my bachelor party.
