I am heading to The Borgata tomorrow for a charity event sponsored by Cabot Creamery to benefit the New Jersey food bank. The event will be a no limit holdem tournament beginning Thursday afternoon. With the economic downturn charities have taken a hit as well, so Cabot Creamery helping support worthy causes like this is commendable. Steve Dannenmann will be there playing as well, and I look forward to catching up with him. It is an open event with a buy in of around $300, so anyone interested in helping support this cause, come on down.
Next week Layne Flack will be meeting me in New York City and we will be heading to Cyprus for the WPT event at the Merritt Casino. I have heard from a lot of friends who will be going as well, so it should be a good time. Full Tilt is one of the sponsors and has been running satellites online, so it should help draw a good crowd.
Then it’s back to the Borgata for the “Borgata Open” here is the link to the schedule:

I can’t wait to see what happens with the $3,500 buy in $2 million guaranteed, WPT televised main event. I am setting the over under at 1020 and taking the over. I think this could be a great direction for poker. More players in a main event with a smaller buy in, makes sense. It will attract more players to take a shot. The current direction of small field, high roller events is all well and good for a small number of players, but it’s so far beyond the reach of all but a few players. Poker, particularily tournament poker, is all about everyone starting with the same opportunity and chasing a dream.
